The first

Here is a blog. I've attempted these things in the past, but I feel somewhat silly, because it feels as if I'm just writing to myself in a sort of rambling way. Maybe it will be different this time when there is a purpose, rather than just to hear my own self talk...er, type.

The purpose: documenting my year in Taiwan. Allowing the mass emails to stop and giving my family and friends the choice to read about what I have been doing when they have the time and the desire to, rather than when the update arrives in their mailbox. And, of course, this way I can add pictures, and who doesn't like pictures to spice up a text? Unfortunately, there are no pictures in this post, because, really, who wants pictures of me sitting in front of my computer in my room in Philadelphia? But soon, my friends, soon will be pictures of other places.

My flight leaves from JFK tomorrow night at 11:55pm and arrives in Anchorage, Alaska at 3:30 am. We leave Anchorage at 4:30am and arrive Taipei, Taiwan at 6:00am on Thursday, August 2. So much for August 1. The time difference from eastern time is 12 hours, so I'll be nice and messed up, but luckily, so will everyone else. Someone will just have to drag me along.

Here goes...
